Learning about bunnies

Last night I was looking at a website about rabbits and printed out alot of things interesting to me about them. I read about their behaviors and body language.I read up on litter training and also learned why my bunny{Daisy} poops in her food dish. I've had her almost a week now and she is doing better. She has a lot of energy. I read about cats and bunnies and if they get along and things like that. I still want to get more info about them, perhaps get books at the library.

Daisy

I recently bought a baby bunny{monday}. She is a black and white 8 week old female Dutch bunny. I decided to name her Daisy. She was born at the end of March so I'm guessing she was born on March 28, so she will be 9 weeks on monday{memorial day}. When I brought her home I introduced her to my cat taz and then I set up her cage and everything and let her settle in. She seems to be getting used to her new home. I have her out right now and she is just racing from my closet door where her cage is to under the bed which is on the other side of her cage. She is very cute and pretty. When I brought her home monday naturally she was nervous and everyone wanted to see her. She's not completely litter trained yet so she still pees and poops in her litter box but also everywhere else. So I'm going to have to do that. I'd like to get her spayed when she is about 4 months{in july}. Maybe in couple months I'd also like to buy her a leash and take her outside. Taz doesn't seem threated by her or mad at me for bringing a new pet home. He will somethimes go up to her cage or be a few feet away and watch her. When I have her out I keep a close eye on her and taz. I hope that maybe they can become friends one day.

Humane Society

Today I got to work outdoors to do Grounds Crew. What that is, is I pick up any trash,pinecones,pull weeds and other things. It's not an exciting job to do but the beauitful weather we had today made up for it. I've done Adoption Avenue in the past. Being outside and doing grounds crew made me feel good. That I was doing good for every dog that come and goes to the humane society. That they could walk by and not have to be by trash littered on the ground.

Typical day at work

Had a long tiring day at work. Worked from 7am-2:45pm. I helped out in the kennel for two hrs letting out dogs,feeding them, getting any dogs that were going home and bring them up front to their owner and then cleaning out the kennel the dog stayed in. I took care of the cats that are boarding with us and fed the bird and gave him a new paper for his droppings{also boarding with us}. When I went to bathe I had two samoyeds to bathe and one was a 10 month old puppy{mickey}. He didn't like the bath or drying. Kept on trying to jump out of the tub and he didn't like the dryer{trying to bite it}. His brother{sam} was better than him. Sam let me bathe him and get him dry. I also had to bathe an 1 yr old oes dog. He doesn't like either as well but he just wined instead of doing something else. For the drying he never stays still so I had to do the best I could and then I put him in a cage and put a fan on him. I had to keep up on laundry so there was always towels to dry the dog with. Anyway glad to be home now to relax and take it easy for rest of night. Get ready for another day of work tomorrow.

About Colonel

I thought I'd talk about my friend's cat Colonel. They live in the same apt building as me. My friend chad actually rents an apt with me but sleeps downstairs in the basement where there happens to be a big room with two tiny rooms in it. Colonel is his cat as you guessed. He got him from the humane society couple months ago. Velvet his other cat passed away last year and chad was lonesome without a cat. Colonel is a 2 year old male who will play with anything and is a talker. He likes attention but doesn't like being picked up. Chad feeds him twice a day otherwise colonel could probably go through a bag of cat food in a day or two. Sometimes something will get into that cat and will race from one end of the room to the other. He has a lot of places to hide if he wants to and has. He seems to like computers. if chad is on his computer colonel will just watch the screen. He is a very active and can be silly cat.

About Taz

I got Taz 3 years ago on April 29,02. I got him from his previous owner who couldn't take care of him anymore so I adopted him. He's about 11 years old and a perfect cat for me. I smother him with more than enough attention and sometimes he get's mad but later on comes back for more. He's a chicken when it comes to the outdoors but will sit on a window sill. When he eats he walks up to his dish plops over sticks a paw in his dish takes one bit of catfood onto the floor and eats it and does that over and over. When he drinks he plops over and just drinks. What a lazy cat! He likes everyone and wants everyone to like him and pet him. I used to give him glitter balls to play with but he would keep putting them under the couch and I would have to get a broom and get it out. He would have it back under the couch later on so I would have to get the broom again. I guess it was a game he played with me. He begs for everything I eat and even tries to get it with his paw and steal it from me. What a pig, eats his own food and tries to steal mine. I give in sometimes. What can I say I'm a sucker. But he's a good cat and I love him very much.

About my job

I work at Trim Time Pet Center which I've been employed at for 1 and 1/2 years. I am an animal attendent and my job is to bathe dogs and kennel them. I bathe them mostly but once in awhile get a break from that and get to do kennel which is where dogs stay with us. In the kennel I feed the dogs,give any medications,take them outside often and do playtimes with puppies. We have puppies come in pretty much all the time for grooming,daycare or boarding with us. We also have cats that come in to get bathed and shaved down or boarding with us. We also have boarded bunnies ,ferrets,birds and turtles before. We are right now boarding a bird who will be staying with us until next week friday{the 20th}. I don't own a dog but I own a cat. Maybe in the future I would like to have a dog but not right now. I enjoy my job and get along with my other co-workers.

First day volunteering

Today was my first day volunteering at the Humane Society.I was suppose to do cleaning crew and work outdoors but since it is rainy and nasty outside I worked inside cleaning windows and doors.I got to see the dogs and cats and they watched me as I worked.Next week when I go in hopefully it'll be nice to work outdoors.Going to be pulling weeds,pick up trash,and pinecones that the dogs seem to think are toys for them.In a month or so I should be able to start walking dogs which I can't wait to start doing.they're were cute cats I saw today.One black cat has one eye but is very adorable and another cat has stitches on his head but beauitful cat to.Another cat who has beautiful color fur has one ear that looks ripped.But all the cats are cute and beauitful in their own way.Same with the dogs.Looking forward to going back next week.I'll be there every wednesday.
